Main Event
(God's Power vs. Your Problem)
In this life, in order to be a champion in boxing, football, baseball, hockey, track and field, etc., and win the coveted prizes (the gold belt around your waist, the Super Bowl trophy and ring, the World Series, the Stanley Cup, or the Gold Medal), you have to go through a series of tryouts, elimination's, and opponents to get to the Finals. At the Finals, the two opponents square off and then you have the real champion. After the battles have been fought and the victories have been won, off goes the individual or the team with the corruptible crown (I Corinthians 9:25).
This earthly life is our main event.
As we go through this life, there is a devil and a host of demons that are determined to stop us from having an abundant life of joy, righteousness and peace as Jesus has promised us (John 10:10). We are told to "be sober, and vigilant because our ADVERSARY the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (I Peter 5:8). This adversary causes confrontations that produce many battles or main events as we journey from earth to Heaven.
In our natural selves (in an unsaved state) we are no match for the devil and his evil host. The devil has over six thousand years experience harassing, binding, deceiving, and overcoming mankind. Just looking around at the many evils and troubles of our day shows that man without God is out-matched in solving all of this world's issues (aids, cancer, hunger, abuse, violence, corruption, greed, etc.). Just as the Bible states, "Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived" (2 Timothy 3:13). Man without God in this main event is fighting a losing battle.
Believers in Christ Jesus need not fear these battles, events, or foes that come against us. Our victory was won over two thousand years ago when Jesus Christ died on Calvary's Cross, and after three days arose from the dead. Jesus overcame the world, the flesh, the devil, death, hell, and the grave. His victory becomes our victory when we accept Him as Lord and Savior.
The Scripture says, "Ye are of God little children and have overcome them because GREATER is HE (Jesus) that is in us, than he (the devil) that is in the world (1 John 4:4).
There is no need for us to fret, bite our nails, lose our hair, or get ulcers through worry. Our God has proved Himself to be ALL that we need Him to be time and time again. He is an ever present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). At the Throne of Grace we can obtain mercy and find grace to help in times of need (Hebrews 4:16).
Deliverance has been promised to us time and time again by our Great God (Psalm 34:19). God still prepares tables of blessings right in the presence of all our enemies (Psalm 23:5). God's goodness and mercy is always by our side (Psalm 23:6). When God is for us — WHO or WHAT can be against us? (Romans 8:31)
What is your MAIN EVENT? What is coming against you today? Is the main event physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual?
Are you struggling with a bad habit, a sickness, a disease, an infirmity, a financial dilemma, or a bout with depression? Is it a situation with a spouse, a child or with your children? Is it something that's taking place on a job, at school, or even at church?
God is "WELL-ABLE" to bring you deliverance (Daniel 3:17). God is standing by to give you total victory in your Main Event! He's bigger than any problem and greater than any situation. Stand your ground. CAST ALL your care(s) on the Lord and TRUST HIM to take care of each challenge and test.
In the meantime, as you wait on your DELIVERANCE:
♦ Keep on praying!
♦ Keep on reading and studying the Word!
♦ Keep on fellowshipping with other saints of God!
♦ Keep on giving!
♦ Keep your eyes on the Lord.
♦ Keep striving to serve the Lord with all your might.
God will come through for you. He is "a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6). Our God is Awesome! He has a reputation of being FAITHFUL (1 Corinthians 10:13). He's not about to lose His reputation now. "He's the SAME, Yesterday, Today, and Forever" (Hebrews 13:8).
"Don't wait till the Battle is over, Praise Him Now!"
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusteth in Him,
and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth;
and with my song will I praise Him.
The Lord is their strength, and He is the saving strength of His anointed."
Psalm 28:7,8
